will find! Buy with confidence!Monaco Orange (aka Hugger Orange) is a highly desirable exterior hue, and this 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 left the assembly line with it. This vehicle was purchased by the most recent owner in 2002, and did a full rotisseries restoration that was completed in 2008!

The car has been driven less than 500 miles since completion! The original, 325-horsepower, 396-cu. in. OHV V8 (see photo of the block VIN stamp and code) block was bored.040-inch over, and the previous owner, who's been a mechanic for 40 years, fitted it with the refurbished stock crankshaft and connecting rods and new Keith Black forged pistons. He chose the camshaft for the 350-hp 396 engine,

and hardened exhaust valve seats were installed in the Oval-port heads during their reconditioning. The original cast-iron intake and exhaust manifolds, and the Rochester Quadrajet carburetor were retained.

He adds, " The water pump, distributor [now fitted with a Pertronix electronic ignition], and alternator are all rebuilt and original to the car, as well. " This car runs and drives like a dream and is a blast to drive with the 4-speed manual transmission with an Easton posi rear end with 3.55 gears! This SS 396's body was media blasted, and he replaced the rusted quarter panels and fenders with NOS GM parts, and welded in a new trunk floor and wheelhouses. The previous owner

then delivered the car to a body shop for refinishing in factory code-72 Monaco Orange, but in a more modern basecoat/clearcoat system.

This is a sow quality paint job that looks as good as the day it was completed! A new black vinyl top was installed, and except for the windshield, the original glass was retained, and has no scratches. All of the weatherstripping was replaced during the restoration, there are no leaks, and the exterior lighting operates as designed. Prior to 2010, the black vinyl upholstered cabin was restored to new and still looks it, All the factory instruments and the recent owner-added accessory gauges function properly, as does the original AM radio and the heater/defroster.

The reproduction F70-14 Firestone Super Sports Wide-Oval redline tires, mounted on 14-inch SS steel wheels with trim rings and SS center caps are perfect for the car! Completely rebuilt during the restoration, the suspension and power front disc/rear drum braking systems remain in excellent condition. The power steering was upgraded with a quick-ratio gearbox. The Basil family has implemented a tradition of excellence in fine new, pre-owned and classic automobiles since 1951. This 1974 Javelin AMX represents the final year of American Motors muscle cars which were produced over a seven year period. American Motors expanded

beyond the family car market in the1968 model year after realizing the younger purchasers entering the new car market wanted vehicles that provided personality and performance. In 1968, to satisfy those interests the Javelin and AMX, were debuted by AMC.

Both cars offered various performance options, paint schemes and trim. The AMX was a two seater Sport car, the Javelin had a wheel base stretched 14 inches longer to accommodate five passengers. Both the AMX and the Javelin were successful in gaining the younger purchasing market which resulted in the release of an additional performance platform based on the American sedan Model in 1969 and was called the SC/Rambler. Ment to mean super

car Rambler, it was almost immediately referred to as the Rambler Scrambler. The Scrambler was available in two different red, white and blue paint schemes and equipped with 390ci engines and a four speed transmission.

Only 1512 of these mini monsters were sold but in 1970, American Motors upped their game and released the Rebel Machine also available in a red, white and blue paint scheme. The Machine could be ordered with an automatic transmission, had a boost in horsepower and available in single body colors. Although the Machine was a larger and heavier car, it could comfortably seat five passengers and with the horsepower boost, it was still a performer to be reckoned with. American

Motors final performance entry prior to their demise was the 1971-1974 Javelin and Javelin AMX.

This model was a timeless designed five passenger pony car which offered a wide array of engine options ranging from a 232ci six cylinder base engine in the Javelin to a stout 401ci engine topping off the line in the Javelin AMX. This 1974 Javelin AMX is one of only 4,980 produced in the American Motors final run of vehicles in the US, making it a very rare and collectable automobile. Its stand-alone body style is like no other with its eye catching fender flares to its extended nose appointment sporting a slender chrome front bumper, a mesh style grill exclusive to the AMX and it's black " T" striped raised cowl hood.

Adding to the sleek design of this AMX are the body colored spoilers, one placed across the lower front beneath the bumper and the second is placed high across the upper trunk lid area. The styled steel wheels with trim rings and chrome center caps nicely accented by the stainless wheel opening moldings and white letter radial tires crave attention from any onlooker. The large rear deck window, rounded corner oversized taillight assemblies and chrome bumper with black bumperettes make this Javelin AMX just as appealing moving away from you as it is upon approach.

The factory pewter mist silver paint scheme with flush mounted door entry handles and endlessly fluid body lines further accentuate this timeless beauty. Under the hood, we find a 390ci V8 engine nicely appointed with chrome valve covers and air cleaner. Additionally equipped with air conditioning and power steering, the V8 power is sent through a three speed automatic transmission and gases are expelled through a full length dual exhaust system. Upon entry to the driver's seat, you are visually treated to an aircraft style wraparound dashboard which blends into an automatic shift and center console tucked between spacious black bucket seats.

While looking forward, you find a sport style steering wheel mounted to a tilt steering column. The bold faced factory gauges and AM/FM radio are appointed in neatly styled machined aluminum with toggle switched lights and wipers mounted just beneath. Additionally, an aftermarket tach and engine gauge package have been installed. Once you see this excellent example of a final year Javelin AMX, you'll want to be the one to take it home.
